Stars Shine in Watertown!

The All Stars Gymnastics Club from All
American Gymnastics Academy in Sioux Falls experienced their
first full meet of the season on November 22 when the
combined compulsory and optional teams traveled to Watertown
for the Dakota Gold Invitational. The All Stars nearly
completed a sweep of the meet when their squads from levels
4, 7, and 8 each brought home first place team awards. The
level 5 team earned 4th place.
The meet was hosted by Dakota Gold
Gymnastics and Dance at the Watertown High School. Other
participating clubs included Mitchell Extreme Gymnastics
Academy (MEGA); Power & Grace Gymnastics of Sioux Falls;
Gold Medal Gymnastics from Brookings and Madison, and the
host club Dakota Gold.
Individual highlights for the All Stars
include the following:
Level 4 first place finishes in the
all-around competition by Payton Steffensen, Sarah Snelling,
Casey Peterson, and Erin Gropel in their respective age
divisions. Macey Oppelt rounded out the top finishers by
taking the second all-around spot in the 6 – 7 year-old
group.
Dominique Boothe nearly captured the
top all-around position by earning second place in the 8 –
10 year-old division of Level 5 while teammates Jamie
Benedict and Madisyn Waltjer took the age 11 top spots in
floor exercise and uneven bars, respectively.
Sweeps of the top three all-around
positions by Level 7 All Star competitors Riley Curd, Edythe
Chestnut, and Sheridan Scheidt occurred in the 9 – 10
year-old group while Audra Meyer, Kaylynn Erlandson, and
Ember Newman duplicated the feat in the 13+ category. Level
7 teammates Lexi Isaacson and Zoe Henkes executed a one –
two punch in the 11 – 12 year-old division as well by
claiming the top two all-around spots.
The Level 8 squad dominated when the
All Stars collected the top 4 scores overall including a 1 –
2 – 3 finish by age 11 – 12 division competitors Mackenzie
Anderson, Ashlyn Wieczorek, and Shania Scheidt along with a
standout performance by Sarah Quinlivan in the 13+ year-old
category.
The All Stars will see their next
action when they travel to Brookings for the “Hula Fest” on
December 6.
